Institutional Structure of a Sholayoor Grama Panchayat

3. Grama Panchayat Secretary

The Panchayat Secretary is the head of the official administrative machinery of the Grama Panchayat. Working under the Local Self-Government Department of the Government of Kerala, the Secretary coordinates the day-to-day administrative activities of the Panchayat.

The major responsibilities of the Secretary include:

  • Implementing decisions of the Governing Body
  • Supervising the general administration of the Panchayat Office

The Grama Sabha is an important component of the democratic system of the Grama Panchayat. The Grama Sabha consists of the voters included in the electoral roll of the respective ward.

The Grama Sabha provides a platform to:
