A Panchayat is a collective body of elected representatives responsible for carrying out the administrative functions of Panchayati Raj institutions. In the case of a Grama Panchayat, it is the main committee that implements the decisions of the Gram Sabha and manages day-to-day administration.The main components of a Panchayat are:President: The head of the Panchayat. Sholayoor Grama Panchayat is a Panchayat located in the Attappadi Block of Mannarkkad Taluk in Palakkad, comprising the villages of Sholayoor and Kottathara. The Sholayoor Panchayat was formed in 1968, and its first President was Kashimuthu.The Panchayat is bordered by Agali Panchayat and Tamil Nadu to the north, Tamil Nadu to the east, Agali Panchayat to the south, and Agali Panchayat to the west.Sholayoor Panchayat is a vast geographical region extending from the Siruvani Hills and their southern and northern slopes to the valleys of the Nilgiri Hills. Major Hindu places of worship in the Panchayat include Malleshwaramudi Temple, Mariamman Munadi, Mariamman Temple, and Siruvani Madhuveeran Temple. Important Christian churches include Sholayoor Parish Church and Pettikkal Church.Sholayoor Grama Panchayat was officially constituted in 1968.
