The Right to Information Act, 2005 has been enacted to provide citizens with access to information held by public authorities and to promote transparency and accountability in public administration.

How to Submit an RTI Application
Any citizen seeking information under the Right to Information Act, 2005 may submit an application to the Public Information Officer.
The application should:
- Clearly specify the information required.
- Contain the name and address of the applicant.
- Be accompanied by the prescribed application fee as per the applicable rules.
- Be submitted either directly or by post.
Application Fee
The application fee under the Right to Information Act shall be collected as prescribed under the prevailing Kerala Right to Information Rules.
Additional charges may be applicable for copies of documents, records, or other materials, as prescribed under the applicable rules.
Time Limit for Providing Information
The Public Information Officer shall provide the information within the time limit prescribed under the Right to Information Act, 2005, from the date of receipt of the application.
First Appeal
If the applicant is not satisfied with the decision of the Public Information Officer, or if the information is not provided within the prescribed time limit, a First Appeal may be submitted to the First Appellate Authority in accordance with the provisions of the Right to Information Act, 2005.
The following documents may be submitted along with the appeal, as applicable:
- Copy of the RTI application;
- Copy of the reply received from the Public Information Officer, if any;
- Grounds for filing the appeal;
- Other relevant supporting documents.
