Jagratha Samithi
The Jagratha Samithi is an important mechanism functioning at the local self-government level to help ensure a safe and dignified social environment for women and children. Its primary objective is to provide necessary intervention, guidance and support in matters relating to violence, abuse, discrimination, exploitation and violations of the rights of women and children.
The Jagratha Samithi of Sholayur Grama Panchayat functions with priority given to the safety, dignity and protection of the rights of women and children. It serves as a local-level mechanism through which persons facing difficulties can raise their concerns and seek appropriate guidance, assistance and support.
Complaints and issues brought to the attention of the Jagratha Samithi are considered with the necessary confidentiality. Depending on the nature of the matter, the Samithi facilitates coordination with the concerned Government Departments, Police, Health Department, Women and Child Development Department, legal aid services and other appropriate agencies for necessary follow-up action and support.
